Description

A fire developed at a plant producing renewable hydrogen. The plant electrolyser that was under installation and had not started operation.
The intervention of the fire brigade enabled the rapid containment of the event, preventing involvement of the nearby photovoltaic installation. 

Based on the information currently available in the public domain, the picture remains preliminary: no conclusive details have emerged regarding the technical causes of the event, the economic extent of the damage, or the outcome of a post-accidental investigation.

Root CAUSE analysis

The INITIATING CAUSE was some sort of confinement loss from the electrolyser system. 
IGNITION SOURCE and  ROOT CAUSE are unknown.

Electrolyser capacity = 1 MW, fed by a photovoltaic park with a nominal capacity of 6.2 MW. 

The first destination of the renewable hydrogen produced was for the boilers of a polymers manufacturer.

No details are known on the extension of the damage.
